Before You Apply

          • Complete your COS application thoroughly. Include your complete education earned and entire work history. This information will be used to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications for the vacancy. Omitted information cannot be considered.  
          • Do not say ‘see resumé’ instead of completing the application, especially the work history fields. The application is the official document and will be reviewed to determine your eligibility for jobs.  
          • In addition to the regulatory requirements that applicants meet minimum requirements in order to be eligible for appointment, the hiring agencies also review the applications to determine the best fit for their vacancy. With this in mind, be as detailed as possible in describing your work experience and avoid using industry specific jargon or acronyms. And check for spelling and grammars errors as well in order to give yourself the best advantage competing with other applicants.  
          • Review the minimum requirements listed in the ‘job details’ fields on the job advertisement. Only qualified applicants at the time they apply can be considered for appointment regardless of an applicant’s willingness to learn a new skill or be trained at a later time.
          • Read the ‘Description of Job Duties’ section to learn more about this specific position.  
          • Be prepared to submit your original  high school diploma and official college transcripts to verify the education claimed on your application should you be hired.

          • Be sure and apply by the posting end date listed on the job announcement. All vacancies except those designated as Immediate Fill, are advertised for a minimum of 10 calendar days and close at 11:59 p.m. on their listed closing day.     ​
